Executive Programme on Learn Six Sigma

Six Sigma is fast making the leap from the manufacturing floor to the boardrooms of healthcare companies, biotechnology firms, telecom providers, financial organizations and even government agencies. Driven by the many success stories widely discussed and shared across the business spectrum , companies of all types and sizes are turning to Six Sigma to save time and money, improve internal processes and earn stronger profits.

To understand the opportunities and importance of Lean Six Sigma, CII Institute of Quality in association with GE organised the first Lean Six Sigma Executive programme on 13th and 14th of April 2007 in Bangalore. The training programme was facilitated by Dr. Chandan Sikdar and Dr. Abhinanda Sarkar, of John F Welch Technology Centre. Senior and middle level managers covering a wide gamut of Industries attended the training programme which dwelt on how lean Six Sigma aligns the organization’s vision and focus on improving processes and allows problem-solvers to work together in a well-defined support system.

The training programme also showcased the benefits of Lean Six Sigma as a comprehensive methodology for process improvement and how it provides organizations with a way to do business faster and with less waste (Lean) and at the same time how it enables organizations to do business better with less variation and fewer defects.

Mr S K Kakkar, Principal Counsellor & Head , CII Institute of Quality, in his opening remarks emphasized that organizations should adopt a holistic approach to implement lean and six sigma to bring a sustainable change. The participants must also understand the philosophy and system of lean and six sigma and not see them simply as tools and techniques for quality improvement.
