Workshop on New Product Development

The challenge for today’s organizations is to align business objectives with New Product Design and Development to gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. The crux of the issue lies in identifying new product and service strategies that foster innovation. To address this issue the CII Institute of Quality organized this workshop.

The course was designed to focus on the integration of all the aspects of the development process; from the voice of the customer to design, manufacturing, delivery and launch. This programme covered market entry and positioning strategies and advanced quality planning processes covering techniques like QFD, FMEA, and Control Plan etc.

There were 8 participants from 6 companies. The course was conducted by the Mr. Sanjib Kumar Dutta, Principal Counselor.

Workshop on Assessment for Business Excellence 2009
12-15 May, Bangalore

16 delegates from 7 organizations attended this workshop which was conducted by Mr Sanjib K Dutta, Principal Counselor, and CII-IQ.

Learnings from the programme included Appreciation of the Business Excellence Model, Understanding the various Criteria for Excellence and How to evaluate Excellence in Business Organizations.

Managing your Projects Effectively
21 – 23 May ,Chennai

15 delegates from 10 organizations attended the programme conducted by Mr Sudhir Patwardhan, Consultant.

The delegates learnt about:

  • Improved selection of projects to meet the organization’s objectives
  • Rapid Execution of Projects within Time and Budget/Resource constraints
  • Improved deployment of organizational strategy
  • Development of managers with acute awareness of creating customer value for top line growth
Training on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
15-16 May, Pune


Mr Ram Narayan, Consultant conducted this training programme which was attended by 10 participants from 4 organizations.

Participants learnt about:

  • The standard method of interpreting the Geometric dimensioning and tolerance given in the drawing.
  • How inspection gauges and fixtures have to be designed based on the GD&T given in the drawing.
Workshop on War on Waste
26-27 May, Bangalore


Mr C V Subrahmanyam, Principal Counselor, CII-IQ conducted the workshop which was attended by 30 participants from 16 organizations.

Module Objectives:

  • “Learn to see” how to eliminate MUDA (waste) in the plant and in the value chain.
  • “Learn to see”  and acquire ability to apply the concept of Value Stream Mapping
  • Gain an understanding on use and application of tools and techniques required for initiating a waste elimination programme in the organization.
  • Gain an understanding on how to establish an effective waste elimination programme in the supply chain.

Two Days Training on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) for QA professionals
26-27 May, Mumbai


Ms Geeta Rajashekar was the faculty for this programme which was attended by 14 delegates from 8 organizations.

The purpose of disseminating these Principles of Good Laboratory Practice was to promote the development of quality test data. Comparable quality of test data forms the basis for the mutual acceptance of data among countries. If individual countries can confidently rely on test data developed in other countries, duplicative testing can be avoided, thereby saving time and resources.

 

The application of these Principles should help organizations to avoid the creation of technical barriers to trade besides further improving the protection of human health and the environment.
