CII Institute of Quality's Skill Initiative for India

To further improve the skills among Indian workmen in collaboration with Korean companies, the current world leaders in skill development, CII-IQ held a skills collaboration meeting between India, Korea and WorldSkills International. The meeting, held in New Delhi during 1-2 February, was attended by Mr Tjerk Dusseldrop-President WSI, Mr Ji Ho Song, Vice President Samsung, Korea, Mr S Krishnan, Addl. Secretary, Min. of Labour & Employment, Mr Sharada Prasad, DGET, Mr Vijay Thadani, NIIT, Lt Gen SS Mehta, Director General CII, Mr S K Kakkar, Principal Counsellor and Head CII Institute of Quality and members from Credu Company, Korea and others.

The main objective of the meeting was to develop an Innovative Skills partnership to generate benefits not only for Korea and India, but also for the Wider WSI Membership, particularly in the Asian Region. India with its strong IT background, would contribute by effectively implementing the interactive E-learning technology for selected students in upgrading their skills.

It was also mutually agreed to establish a Centre of Excellence for WorldSkills in India to ultimately make India the Skills Capital of the World.
