NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIX SIGMA 13-14 August 2007 : CII Institute of Quality: Bangalore
Six Sigma is a highly disciplined process that helps us focuses on developing and delivering near-perfect products and services. It is a focused approach to resolve problems and optimize processes. CII Institute of Quality (CII IQ) plays a key role in enhancing Six Sigma tools and techniques in Indian Industry. The CII Six Sigma Black Belt certificate programmes are unique in nature and are designed for bringing in improvements in Indian Industry. A few success stories have begun to evolve and have an impact on Industry in India.
Participants in the CII IQ organised National Conference on Six Sigma, 13-14 August 2007at Bangalore will get a first-hand learning in Six Sigma technique; how each chronic problem in the manufacturing area is identified and taken up as a Project and systematically addressed through the four stages viz.
- Define
- Measure & Analyze
- Improve and
- Control i.e. DMAIC. In various applications of process improve areas, the DMAIC techniques are applied and fine-tuned to suit the requirements of Indian Industry.
The Conference shall widely share the best practices in Six Sigma and learn the key techniques used by successful organizations. This Conference proposes to bring together experts in the field of Six Sigma, academicians and key personnel from Indian Industry on a common platform to gain further knowledge and value.
As a pre-Conference effort, CII-IQ had invited successful case studies adopted by different organisations on the subject of Six Sigma. These case studies are either in manufacturing or transactional processes.
The categories under which projects were to be submitted are either Critical to Quality; Critical to Satisfaction or Critical to Cost. The select projects will be presented by the applicant company during this National Conference.
The selected organisations for case study for presentations have already carried out process improvements in the following areas:-
- Manufacturing processes like welding, machining, assembly, wire drawing etc..
- Transactional industries which produces bulk materials through chemical reactions
- Power consumption reduction in mills
- Process industries which manufacture viscose staple fibers and cokes.
CII-IQ will recognize the BEST THREE presentations from the above case studies during the National Conference and will be awarded.
The following techniques which have been applied for pinpointing the root causes and optimization of processes will be demonstrated through the case studies
- Shainin techniques for optimization and problem solving
- Conventional statistical tools like Test of hypothesis, regression analysis etc..
- Process control identification techniques like variation analysis and control charting.
The following personnel will find this Conference of great practical use:
Personnel from Production, Product & Process Design, Maintenance, Six Sigma Practitioners/ Consultants, Six Sigma Deployment Champions, Six Sigma Black Belts / Green Belts and Academia
