World Food Day Celebration
16 October Highlights

 

Eastern Region:

World Food Day is celebrated every year on 16th October, which is the day on which the Food and AgricultureOrganization of the United Nations was founded.

This year, Confederation of Indian Industry celebrated World Food Day with the theme “Food Safety & Quality for All” 16thOctober 2009 all across the country with focused events for spreading a widespread awareness onFood Safety & Quality across the country.

CII Eastern Region celebrated World Food Day through campaigns in public places, projections in cinema halls and shopping malls, poster sessions in corporate houses. Food was distributed in orphanages, schools, old age homes etc. Many such activities were conducted with an objective to reach out to a larger mass and promote the message of food safety and quality.

CII – Yi Session on Food Safety & Quality, St Thomas Church Hall, Kolkata
A Session on Food Safety & Quality was organized by CII
and Yi Kolkata Chapter. Ms. Pauli Dam, a renowned
Bengali Cine star was the Chief Guest.
About 150 participants were present in the 2 hour session.
   
5000 Meals for Ek Prayaas Education Society
Yi Kolkata Chapter has taken up the initiative to adopt Ek Prayaas Education Society to provide 5000 set meals - feed 100 children over 50 days.
   
Public Awareness Campaigns at Kolkata
10, 000 pamphlets were distributed at different public locations

Orissa

Yi Bhubaneswar Chapter in association with CII Orissa State Office celebrated World Food day across Bhubaneswar & Balasore. A pool of Yi members joined hand to feed 1000 people including orphans, mentally retarded children, economically backward children, widows, slum dwellers etc. CII Orissa State Office also organised a session on World Food Day. Mr. S S Nandurdikar addressed the Members of CII Orissa State Council and media on various Food safety measures.
