The CII Institute of Quality and Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation's partnership on the World Food Day (WFD) Celebration reached out Food Safety and Quality Messages and Guidelines to base kitchens, consumers, 25,000 Railway passengers in Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express and to participants of the WFD Program across the country through Posters, Tray Mats and Booklets.
- Release of CII Food Safety Rating Matrix
Based on FSSAI draft criteria for audit of food establishments, CII published the “CII-Food Safety Rating Matrix for Eateries” to assess the level of implementation and compliance of Food Safety and Quality of Eateries.

GOA
The Yi Goa Chapter celebrated the World Food Day on 16 October 2009 in line with Yi national initiative. The theme of the YI Goa Chapter for the World Food Day program was “Ek Jinn; Ek Jevann" in Konkani which translated to English means, "Each Soul, One Meal". The objective was to experience the joy of giving .
YI Goa chapter also aired a radio campaign, in collaboration with Big FM 92.7 radio station, educating the public on the issue of Food Security and requesting them to join hands with YI Goa Chapter on 16th October 09 on the " Ek Jinn; Ek Jevann" mission.
A press conference was also held on 15 October 2009 at Hotel Nova Goa, Panaji – Goa by the Yi Goa Chapter Chair, Mr. Tejendra (Nikhil) Lawande to promote the best practices in achieving food security. He also highlighted the importance of World Food Day in the country and promote this idea to the citizens of Goa.
The total number of people fed by the Yi Members across Goa at various localities was 272 people.
An appeal was also made to Rotarians from Rotary District 3170 by the Co-Chair Ms. Jennifer to feed atleast one hungry soul in their area of operations / existence. Also the Yi Goa Chapter associated with Rotaract Club of Kundapur South, in Udipi, Karnataka to feed 30 Specially Challenged Children in a Special School in Kundapur, Udipi, Karnataka.
The Yi members also appealed individually to people under their influence to join in the campaign in their own special way.
MAHARASHTRA
Yi Mumbai Chapter organized food for several people, where the Members had contributed a total sum of Rs 15,400 and thus able to provide a wholesome meal to 770 people at Kakinada (along with Srishti Foundation)
Apart from this, 250 people including 50 children were fed at Mother Teresa's Charitable Home- Prem Dham, Airoli.
The whole phenomenon of being able to truly touch somebody’s life by something as small as this gesture emotionally moved us all.
GUJARAT
CII, Gujarat office organized various programmes on 16 October World Food Day.
Press Conference at Himalaya Mall addressed by Mr Rajesh Gandhi, Past Chairman CII & MD, Vadilal Industries Ltd and Mr Jay Ruparel, Chair, Yi Ahmedabad Chapter and ED & COO Azure Knowledge Corporation Pvt Ltd
We also created Awareness for the Food Safety and Quality for all through our Radio Partner – Radio One – FM 95 on 16th Oct. Radio One also broadcast live bytes from the citizens as well as Office bearers by a RJ on two of the venues.
Distribution of Fliers carrying the message of Food Safety along with a Menu for Good Health along with Sensitizing the Children by a small questionnaire and distributing T-Shirts & Stickers to participants with the message “Food Safety & Quality for All ” in appreciation of their filling up the questionnaire
About more that 2500 people who were distributed the fliers were made to understand the importance of “Food Safety and Quality for All”. |
